Individual Counseling in Erie, PA

When you come in to meet with a counselor, you will discuss your strengths, weaknesses and concerns in order to establish what you want to achieve during therapy. Together with your therapist, you will define your treatment and the best approach for you. You may choose cognitive therapy, anxiety therapy, EMDRdrug and alcohol counseling, marital counseling and referrals to physicians for medication evaluation and management as part of your individual counseling.

Because we are not physicians, we do not prescribe medicine. However, we will work closely with your primary care physician and a psychiatrist, if necessary, to coordinate your care.

Family & Individual Counseling Sessions

When individual members of a family are dealing with emotional issues, the entire family can be affected by that person’s distress. It is often helpful to approach the situation with a family systems approach. In this way, spouses’ and children’s needs are taken into consideration. Even a silent member of the family may show their distress in quiet ways that don’t call attention to their pain. By involving spouses and children, healing can occur across the family.
